Introducing Download Bank - Giving You More Freedom than Ever!

We're rolling out a brand-new feature - the Download Bank - enabling you to save any unused portion of your Download Allowance until the next day. As part of system-wide network upgrades that started last summer, this latest enhancement lets you do more of what you enjoy online.

This FREE enhancement to your HughesNet service launched in mid-November and has continued to roll out to all HughesNet subscribers over the next few months.

What is the Download Bank?

Think of it as a bank that holds your Download Allowances - the capacity available to you during a 24-hour period. Now you can 'bank' - or carry over - your unused Daily Download Allowance until the next day up to 2x the capacity (that's up to 900 MB, depending on your plan). With your bank filled, you have the flexibility to download a little, or a lot, any time you want - it's completely up to you!

How does it work?

Currently, depending on your plan, your Download Allowance has a capacity of 250 MB, 350 MB, or 450 MB available to you in a 24-hour period. You can download up to that amount without affecting browsing speeds.

With the Download Bank, we're 'banking' the unused capacity of your daily allowance into a two-day Download Bank. Every day an additional daily allowance is added, up to 2x your daily allotment.

  • Download Bank for Basic: 250 MB x 2 days = 500 MB
  • Download Bank for Power 150: 350 MB x 2 days = 700 MB
  • Download Bank for Power 200: 450 MB x 2 days = 900 MB

Having a full "account" means you have the flexibility to download a little, or a lot, any time you want. And remember, your Download Bank is being replenished every day.

More Freedom. Less Worry.

Let's say you have been out of town for a day. The Download Bank lets you capture the Download Allowances you didn't use. So if you want to stream a movie, but you're concerned you might use more than your daily allowance of 250 MB - no problem! You can dip into your "savings" at the Download Bank. (Of course, you can also schedule large downloads using the HughesNet Download Manager - or you can use a Restore Token - the FREE one you receive each month - to keep your online experience up to speed.)

And the best part?

You don't have to do a thing to take advantage of this new feature. Your Download Bank will automatically start.

The brand-new feature is another in our ongoing efforts to enhance your online experience - and help you live the life you want, wherever you choose to live it. Enjoy!

P. S. Want to easily keep track of how much you're downloading?

If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to download the HughesNet Status Meter. It gives you an instant snapshot of how much download capacity is available. And remember - the HughesNet Download Manager and FREE monthly Restore Token can help keep your online experience up to speed.

  • What happens if I don’t use all of my Daily Download Allowance?

Great News! Due to some recent improvements in the HughesNet technology, you can now "bank" unused portions of your daily Download Allowance in the Download Bank for use the next day. This banking of unused data has the effect of increasing the Download Allowance by the amount of the unused data from the prior 24-hour period. If you subscribe to the Basic plan, which has a daily Download Allowance of 250 MB, and you've only used 100 MB of data during the previous 24-hour period, your Download Allowance for the next 24-hour period will be 250 MB, plus the unused 150 MB from the previous 24 hours, for a total of 400 MB. The Download Bank will allow you the flexibility to download larger files when you really need to, without disrupting your service.

  • What do I need to do to start the Download Bank?

Nothing. This FREE enhancement to your HughesNet service launched in mid-November and will continue to roll out over the next few months.

  • Does the Download Bank apply to all HughesNet Plans?

The Download Bank applies to most HughesNet plans including "legacy" plans:

    Current Plans Legacy Plans
    Basic Home
    Power 150 Pro
    Power 200 Pro Plus
      Elite Plus
      Elite Premium
      All Plus Options

  • Does unused data in the Download Bank expire?

Today, the Download Allowance is based on a rolling 24-hour period. Subject to the Download Bank caps as listed below, unused data will carry over to the next day via the Download Bank. The Download Bank can accumulate up to a two-day supply of your service plan's Download Allowance.

Plan 24-Hour Download Allowance Download Bank
    Basic 250 MB 250 MB x 2 = 500 MB
    Power 150 350 MB 350 MB x 2 = 700 MB
    Power 200 450 MB 450 MB x 2 = 900 MB

  • Does the data transmitted during the Download Zone count in determining whether I will have any data left for the Download Bank?

No. Any data transmitted during the Download Zone does not count against your Daily Download Allowance, so it will not affect how much data you have left for the Download Bank for the next 24-hour period.

  • Now that I have the Download Bank, can I still use Restore Tokens?

Yes. You can always use Restore Tokens to instantly reset your Download Allowance. When using a Restore Token you will be getting a full day's Daily Download Allowance, but since you are allowed a maximum of two days Daily Download Allowance, your Status Meter will show only 50 percent full.

  • Is there a way to monitor my Download Allowance?

Your Status Meter continuously monitors your usage so you always know how much of your Download Allowance is available.

  • How will the Download Bank work with my Status Meter?

Now with the Download Bank, your Status Meter will measure twice as much of your Download Allowance. 100% will now represent two days of your Download Allowance. If the Status Meter indicates 50%, that means you have 1 full day's worth of Download Allowance available. If you take advantage of a Restore Token, your Status Meter will reset to 50% (one day) of your Download Allowance.
