Additional HughesNet/NextAlarm Products and Services
Service Transfers
For HughesNet customers who have other businesses or residences with existing alarm systems, NextAlarm can provide lower priced monitoring service. This monitoring service works with most existing alarm systems and allows communication through standard phone line or terrestrial broadband service.
With transfer service, you can choose from Self Monitoring or Professional Monitoring (see above for features).
Cameras
NextAlarm offers a line of wireless cameras that will interact with any NextAlarm monitored alarm system, including a Fixed Lens Model, a Pan/Tilt Model, and an Outdoor Model.
NextView wireless security cameras are the complete, affordable, plug-and-play system for adding remote video camera surveillance to any home or small business. The cameras work stand-alone, or in conjunction with any security system using the NextAlarm Broadband Adapter. You are able to view real-time or recorded video from any Internet browser or iPhone with installed NextView app.
Apple Approved iPhone App
With the convenience of an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and using either WiFi or 3G, you may at any time:
- View live cameras (up to 16 per account)
- Review archived images (optional archive feature retains video for two months).

General/Technical/Billing FAQ’s
How can you offer alarm monitoring at such a low price? What is the difference between NextAlarm and ADT or Brink's Home Security?
By focusing just on alarm monitoring, and not on installation or repairs of equipment, and by streamlining and modernizing NextAlarm’s application process by conducting it through the Internet, NextAlarm is able to offer one of the lowest rates in the industry. In addition, when ADT or Brink's monitors a system, they charge for a lease on the equipment as well, even if you already own the system. At NextAlarm, we charge a fair price for the monitoring, and that's all we charge. Our central stations are UL-Listed, which means they conform to the same standards as many other alarm monitoring services, including those offered by ADT and Brink's.
How do I know if my security system qualifies for conversion to NextAlarm?
Just fill out NextAlarm online service application at www.satellite.nextalarm.com and in most cases, you’ll know right away. Occasionally we might need a little more information about your security system. We will contact you via E-Mail within two business days if this is the case. If we are not able to convert your existing system, we recommend the NextAlarm Alarm System.
How much does it cost to convert the customer’s security system to NextAlarm?
There is no setup fee, and no cost for converting your existing security system to be monitored by NextAlarm with the exception of the purchase of the Broadband Adapter.
My security system is locked out. Can NextAlarm still monitor it?
In most cases, yes. With our patented Broadband Adapter, we can monitor most security systems, even if locked out.
How long will it take to convert my system to NextAlarm?
Once you have the Broadband Adapter, installing it and testing the system will take about 30 minutes. If you are being monitored over standard phone line, the takeover process also takes about 30 minutes. For assistance call 1-877-639-8911 to speak to a NextAlarm agent.
How do I know my system works properly after conversion to NextAlarm?
After the conversion is completed, you will be asked to test the system to verify that it communicates properly with our central station. You should also test your system at least once per month or once per week if possible.
Is my security system connected directly to local police and fire departments?
Consistent with most local laws, the alarm system does not directly connect to local emergency response agencies. Instead, security systems monitored by NextAlarm utilize the customer's broadband Internet connection or standard phone line as the primary communication link to one of our central stations. Operators at our central stations will in turn contact your local authorities as necessary. (The connection to the central station is only for customers subscribed to the Professional Monitoring service option).
What happens if there is a power failure or blackout?
Most modern home security systems include a back-up battery, which will automatically engage and keep your system functioning for several hours after a power failure. Most secondary power supplies will recharge once electricity is restored to the system. Customers should connect the Broadband Adapter to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
Does NextAlarm qualify me for a discount from my homeowners' insurance carrier?
For customers who subscribe to the Professional Monitoring service option, NextAlarm uses fully UL-listed central stations, and customers qualify for a discount from most homeowners' insurance carriers. We will provide a certificate for insurance agents, stating that we are monitoring the home or business.
Cancelling and Refunds
You can cancel your monitoring service at any time. Refunds are credited back to the credit card you used to pay for service. You can cancel by calling or by calling 1-877-639-8911 option 3 for support where NextAlarm agents can assist you.
