Download Allowance Manager

Introduction:

Download Allowance Status is a feature that enables you to monitor your download usage. You can monitor your usage directly from your modem and know when you may be close to exceeding your threshold .
Note: The software code to the Ku sites will be updated few hundred sites at a time so the feature might not be available to all sites starting in May 2010.

Procedure/Solution:

HN7000S: Accessing the Download Allowance Status

  1. Access the System Control Center. Click here for more details on Accessing the System Control Center.
  2. Click the Download Allowance Status link on the System Control Center home page or in the left panel of other System Control Center pages.
  3. The next screen displays a bar graph that shows you your daily download allowance and the amount of allowance remaining.
  4. It has the following information:
    • General Status - will display one of the following messages
      • Usage within allowance - no download restrictions
      • Usage has exceeded allowance - download speed limited
    • Plan Allowance (MB) - How much data you can download daily, in megabytes, based on your service plan
    • Allowance Remaining (MB) - Amount remaining of your daily download allowance, in megabytes.
    • Allowance Remaining (%) - Amount remaining of your daily download allowance, as a percentage of your daily plan allowance.
    • Time Until Allowance Refill - Time remaining until your daily allowance is replenished or refilled.
  5. An example of an account that has Not Exceeded the Download Threshold
    • The System Status light will be green if all functions are operating within normal parameters.
    • The Download Allowance Status screen will have the following:
      • The status message will be "Usage within your plan's allowance - no download restrictions"
      • The bar graph will be partially or completely green
      • The Allowance Remaining (MB) and the Allowance Remaining (%) will be greater than zero
  6. An example of an account that has Exceeded the Download Threshold
    • The System Status light will be Orange
    • The Download Allowance Status screen will have the following:
      • The status message will be "Usage has exceeded download allowance - download speed limited"
      • The bar graph will be completely empty
      • The Allowance Remaining (MB) and the Allowance Remaining (%) will be zero
      • Once you have exceeded your Daily Download Allowance, your download speed will be limited for approximately 24 hours.
