  • On Tuesday December 14, 2009 Hughes will offer all customers access to the new Zone Alarm storefront website. Currently, customers with HughesNet Tools on your PC can order Zone Alarm Security Suite through the HughesNet Tools package on http://home.myhughesnet.com
  • Now Hughes will be offering all customers access to order Zone Alarm products via our new Zone Alarm storefront website located at http://home.myhughesnet.com then navigate to the HughesNet Security page on the left pane.

Procedure/Solution:

Order Zone Alarm Security

  • You can access the site directly by going to the following link http://services.hughesnet.com/safety/zonealarm
  • You need to be logged in to the http://home.myhughesnet.com website using your HughesNet E-mail Address and Password
  • Note that before turning on Zone Alarm Anti-Virus you may be required to turn off or uninstall any other anti-virus products.
  • Click on the HughesNet Security link under the My Services section on the left hand pane of the webpage
  • You will be offered 90 days free and protection for up to 4 PC's.
  • Click on Buy Now button and will be directed to Login in to the Zone Alarm StoreFront
    • Enter your SAN (for more information on SAN click here), First Name, Last Name, Zip Code and E-mail Address.
    • Once you provide the required information click Log In
  • Once logged in, you will see the following screen:
    • Click the radio button above the Place Order button to select Monthly Charge is $3.95. First 30 days free
    • Click Place Order
  • After the order is placed, a confirmation message with activation code will appear and an E-mail with the activation code will be sent to your E-mail address as entered on the order page .
  • To start the download, click on Please click here to download link or by following the link sent to your E-mail as entered on the order page.

How to install Zone Alarm:

To install the Zone Alarm client software, you need to follow the steps below:

  • Once the software is downloaded (step above this section), you need to install the Zone Alarm software
  • Double click the setup file that you just downloaded
  • If you would like a desktop icon created, check the box to Install desktop icon
  • Click Next
  • Enter your name and if you would like to receive E-mails from Zone Alarm about your product and updates, enter your E-mail address (If you don't want to receive updates, you don't have to enter your E-mail address)
  • Click Next
  • Next you will need to agree to the License Agreement by checking the box next to I accept the terms of the preceding License Agreement
  • Click the Install button.
  • You will be presented with the following setup options:
  • Hughes recommends to use the Default quick install setup
  • Running two anti-virus products at once causes slow performance and system crashes. Before turning on Zone Alarm Anti-Virus, you must turn off or uninstall any other anti-virus products. As such, please choose one of the following two options:
    • If you have anti-virus software on your PC and would like to continue to use it (Not use the anti-virus software included in the Zone Alarm software) check the:
      • No - Disable Anti-Virus protection - To keep the current anti-virus software and NOT use Zone Alarm anti-virus
      • Click Next
    • If you have an anti-virus software on your PC but have disabled it or no anti-virus software and want to use Zone Alarm
      anti-virus software, check the:
      • Yes - Enable anti-virus protection
      • Click Next
  • After the install process is complete, you will see the following popup:
  • Click the Restart Computer button to finish installation.
  • Once the computer is restarted, the PC will now be protected by Zone Alarm.

How to Disable Zone Alarm

  • To disable Zone Alarm, right click on the ZoneAlarm icon in the system tray
  • Select Shut down the ZoneAlarm Security Suite

How to Cancel Zone Alarm and Stop Zone Alarm updates and billing

  • Open your browser and enter the following URL http://services.hughesnet.com/safety/zonealarm/login.cfm
  • Enter your SAN (for more information on SAN click here), First Name, Last Name, Zip Code and E-mail Address.
  • Once all the information is entered click Log In
  • You will see Download Zone Alarm and Cancel Zone Alarm, click on the red Cancel button.
  • Once you click cancel, you will receive the following message along with an E-mail verifying your cancellation

  • Going forward, you will not be billed for Zone Alarm on your monthly HughesNet invoice.

Manually Uninstall Zone Alarm from your PC

  • Click on Start > Programs > Zone Labs > Uninstall Zone Labs Security
  • Click Uninstall
  • Click OK to the security alerts that pops up.
  • To Reboot the PC click OK

    Solution: You can disable ZoneAlarm Security Suite by right clicking on the ZoneAlarm Security Suite icon in the system tray and shutting down the ZoneAlarm Security Suite. For more details click here.
  3. Symptom: Video is being blocked on www.video.msn.com
    Solution: This is normal configuration issue with the privacy settings. You need to add www.video.msn.com to the site list and Allow Private Headers.

    As part of the HughesNet subscriber agreement, you are allowed 4 simultaneous copies of the application. However, if you install Zone Labs on a 5th PC, Zone Labs may decide to unsubscribe that license key at their discretion. If the license key is revoked, the user will not get any software/Anti Virus updates on that PC.
  15. When I cancel the ZoneAlarm Security Software, does it also uninstall the ZoneAlarm software?
    No, if you cancel or revoke the ZoneAlarm Security Suite, you can still use the ZoneAlarm Security Suite software but you will not be able to get the current updates for your ZoneAlarm Security Suite. You will be able to utilize the software without a problem.
  16. If I have another firewall, will it be removed during Zone Alarm installation?
    No, your previously installed firewall will not be removed during ZoneAlarm Security Suite installation.
  17. What are the differences between the Zone Alarm HughesNet version and the Zone Alarm retail version?
    The difference between the ZoneAlarm HughesNet version and ZoneAlarm retail version is that the Optimal Setting of ZoneAlarm Security Suite for HughesNet version is designed to work with HughesNet. And, you will be billed for HughesNet Service and ZoneAlarm Security Suite on the same monthly statement.
  18. How much does the Zone Alarm Security Suite cost?
    ZoneAlarm Security Suite is free for the first 90 days upon initial order. After the initial 90 days, the service will cost $3.95 per month. The service charge will appear on your monthly statement.
  19. What is a License Key?
    The license key is an authorization for the customer to use the service. It also enables the subscriber to receive updates to the software.
