Last modified on

This notice is to advise HughesNet email users that Hughes WILL NEVER send you an email asking you to verify your email password or other personal information, these Phishing emails are used to exploit your personal and financial information.

You have received an email to your HughesNet account from a @hughes.net email address requesting you to open a file or click a link in order to provide your HughesNet account information.

Under no circumstances does Hughes solicit any personal information from customers via email. If you receive such a request it should be immediately deleted without opening any attachment or clicking on any link contained within the email. It is most likely a Phishing Scam.

The following tips are good to keep in mind when trying to determine if the email is valid or fake:

  1. Hughes will never ask you to log into your account through an email.
  2. Grammar mistakes are a quick way to weed out the phishing emails. Any punctuation issues or misspelled words are a sure sign the email is not valid.
  3. If you hover over any links in the email,  you will see the URL displayed without having to click on it.
  4.  Generally speaking, if you're not sure about an email don't open it and definitely don't click on any links or enter any of your personal information.

The following are examples of Phishing or Hoax emails found by HughesNet customers. If you find a similar email, delete it, without opening any attachment, clicking any link, or replying (especially with any personal information).

  • Emails in reference to Billing Issues:
  • Emails to attempt to divert users to an outside website.
